Be aware that the first tier of individuals who answer the telephones have no background or training in immigration matters.  They are only trained to choose scripts based upon questions posed.  If you call back and pose the question diffierently, you may get a different answer.

is a free CIS service that lets anyone schedule an in-person appointment with a CIS Immigration Information Officer at a local local CIS office by using the Internet at any time of day or night.  These CIS IIOs have access to the CIS database and can obtain results not obtainable over the telephone.
