Corporate Immigration Paralegal
E&M Mayock, a corporate immigration law firm with offices in San Francisco’s Financial District, has an immediate need for a paralegal that will join the firm’s non-immigrant visa unit and specialize in the E-2, Investor Visa Program.
This position is a unique opportunity for a take-charge professional. The role requires someone who is familiar with the broad range of investment and corporate issues for start-ups and established corporations that are fundamental to the E-2, Investor Visa Program. Prior experience as a paralegal is preferred, but not required.
You will join a savvy international team working at the highest level in the corporate immigration law field on challenging cases for top-notch clients.
This is a full-time position with a competitive compensation package, including 401(k), medical, dental, life and disability insurance.
Your responsibilities will include:
Assisting attorneys in preparation of employment-based non-immigrant visa petitions, especially the E-2, Investor Visa Program;
Conducting research re immigration regulations and procedures;
Managing a caseload of non-immigrant visa matters utilizing case management software; and
Contributing to the more efficient and effective operation of the firm’s workflow.
Required experience includes:
Minimum 2-3 years experience in a corporate environment;
Demonstrated client service focus;
Excellent oral, writing, research, organizational and proofreading skills; and
Ability to simultaneously manage multiple cases.
Preferred experience includes:
Business background with knowledge of different legal structures (i.e., corporation, LLC, LP);
Basic knowledge of business plans and business models;
Knowledge of profit and loss statements and balance sheets;
Ability to spot trends and issues with forecast models;
Familiarity with incorporation documents and minutes of a company, stock agreements and stock ledgers and stock certificates;
Knowledge of immigration and nationality law matters and mastery of multiple case types, including E-1/2/3, H, L, TN, O, P, PERM, EB1 & IV filings; and
A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Business Administration, International Relations or a closely related field is required. A paralegal certificate is preferred.
