James
Mayock is a partner with the immigration law firm of Elliot & Mayock
LLP, which has offices in San Francisco and
Washington, DC. The firm practices the full range of immigration
law and specializes in employment-based immigrant and non-immigrant
visas.

Mr.
Mayock is best known for his successful representation of individuals
seeking visas under the extraordinary ability and multinational
manager categories, having represented a wide variety of international
executives, entertainers, artists and athletes. Mr. Mayock has secured
visas for Boris Yeltsin and Mikhail Gorbachev as O-1 "outstanding
individuals".
A member
of the State Bar of California since 1978, Mr. Mayock is certified
by the Bar as a specialist in immigration law. He is a past chair
of the Immigration Committee of the Bar Association of San Francisco.
Mr. Mayock has served in a number of capacities at both the local
and national level with the American Immigration Lawyers Association,
including lobbyist, litigation coordinator and media liaison for
the local chapter. Mr. Mayock is a member of SHRM (Society for Human
Resource Management), NCHRA (Northern California Human Resource
Association), ASHHRA (American Society for Healthcare Resources
Administration) and the National Association of Healthcare Recruiters
(NAHCR).

Mayock is a frequent and dynamic speaker. He has been successful
in clarifying the intricate details of US immigration law and outlining
visa strategies for audiences around the world. Recent speaking
engagements have included the California Association of Private
Postsecondary Schools (CAPPS), the Northern California Human Resources
Association (NCHRA), the Bay Area chapters of the National Association
of Healthcare Recruiters (NAHCR) and the Indonesian Professionals
Association (IPA), the Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF),
and the San Francisco chapters of the Swedish-American, Australian-American,
German-American and British-American Chambers of Commerce.
Mr.
Mayock studied the Russian language at Phillips Andover Academy
from 1968 to 1972. In 1975, he was awarded a B.A. in Philosophy
by the University of Toronto. He obtained a J.D. from Indiana University
in 1978. He studied and worked in international business for three
years in South America and is fluent in Spanish.
